The Nurse Practitioner will be part of a team working in collaboration with family practice physician and support staff to provide primary health care services effectively and efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide direct patient care including history review, health education, physical exam, counseling, diagnosis and treatment according to protocols and meeting productivity goals.

2. Create and maintain an environment of dignity and safety for patient sensitivity and privacy.

3. Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic studies and medical protocols.

4. Provide education and support to patients and receive and address patient’s questions and problems.

5. Collaborate with Medical Director, Staff Manager, Practice Manager Clinical Assistants and other team members to assess the needs of clients.

6. Prescribe medications and make recommendations for other forms of treatment.

7. Participate in conferences and workshops, maintaining currency in the health care field.

8. Partner in the utilization review process.

9. Train Health Center Staff regarding clinical operations.

10. Collaborate with the health team and other community agencies and resources.

Skills:

  • Must be able to work other shifts, other work locations and able to travel as job dictates. (Although Amistad has only one location at this time.)
  • Must be able to participate in after-hours “On-Call” client support.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate credentials and certifications (including CPR).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to start an IV and administer medication per physician order.
  • Ability to perform ultrasonography for gestational dating.
  • Excellent leadership capabilities; able to mentor and coach fellow health center staff in the achievement of health center employee goals.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to adapt to diverse needs and clientele of all affiliate health centers.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment, and problem-solving techniques in the decision-making process.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills in working with patients and staff in all areas, including administrative, clinical, and non-clinical center staff.
  • Must be professional, pleasant, courteous and helpful, and be a team player.
  • Must be committed to quality healthcare, have the skills to deliver quality healthcare efficiently and be able to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Outlook to read and create e-mail; proficient in the use of computer systems and medical software.
  • Adhere to confidentiality standards.
  • Demonstrates cultural and linguistic competence.

Requirements:

MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED for COVID-19

Pay based on level of experience

1. License to practice as an Advance Practice Nurse with prescriptive authority in the State of Texas.

2. 3 years nursing experience

3. Proficiency in Computer Skills and Electronic Health Records

4. Job Requirements License to practice as an Advance Practice Nurse with prescriptive authority in the State of Texas

5. Master’s degree (or equivalent) and certification in specialty as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Expected hours: 40 per week
